Mono
Came across a blog last week that I was reading for the first time, don't even remember whose it was ~ and in a past post she had mentioned having mono and I thought, oh.my.gosh that's what's wrong with me!
(She hadn't even talked about symptoms, amazingly just the mention of it and a light went on in my head!)
After putting it off for a couple of months, (mostly because we hadn't established new doctors since our move), and with hubby's urging, I finally made a doctor appointment.
Was asked a bunch of questions, throat checked and told it was probably allergies. When I asked if it could be mono, was told most likely not because he didn't see the symptoms and then was given allergy prescriptions. It all just didn't sit right with me, so the next day I made an appointment at another doctor's office.
Really liked this guy, (liked the first one too, but wasn't what I was looking for in a family physician) and when I told him my symptoms, (on-and-off for the past six months keep in mind) said, oh that's easy, it's allergies. When I asked him if it could be mono, he paused to consider and then said probably not but we'll check just to be sure. I asked the gal drawing my blood, some more about the symptoms and she suggested that I'd likely be alot more tired, so I figured it must be something else. Anyway, long story short, got the blood work results back yesterday and indeed I do. Obviously I had suspected it, but ruled it out because of what the doctors had said.
Posted 7/7/2012 - I've been under the weather for over a week now,
the last couple of days have been the worst ~
sore throat, achy, nauseous, headache, ugh ~
hoping to feel better soon.:(
Posted 7/10/2012 - Some favorite Pins from today just because
I'm still feeling yucky and well, the last posts' picture (eggs)
was making me queasy, ha! :)
Posted 7/18/2012 - Whew, didn't mean to go so long between posting!!
Not much new going on here, but the everyday is keeping me hopping
for sure. My goal last week was to get lots of rest and downtime
in the hopes of getting well. The fresh air and vitamin-D from
beach-walking, reading and shelling sure did me good, but still not 100%:(

I'm so bummed.
I'm knee-deep into projects and have so much going on
that I'm excited about, just not sure how to handle it all.
The next few weeks will be focused on getting well ~
lots of fluids, rest and just laying low.
Oy Vey!

Sometimes we just KNOW our bodies! Please take care of yourself so you will be 100% when little sister gets here!!!
I am so glad you spoke up for yourself! Doctors are great but they are trained in the "if you hear hooves, think horse not zebra" mindset. I think this is good news because now you know that you need to take this time to heal your body. Rest and relax and let those sweet boys take great care of you!

My 16 year old had it last summer... Kissing disease, great! Feel better soon, you have a lot to get healthy for , rest!
Wow. I had mono once when I was 16 and it took everything out of me. I hope you feel better soon! I'm so glad your doctor listened to you.
Us moms just keeping going...sort of like the Energizer bunny! So sorry to hear about your diagnosis...I know it takes some time to recover...are there even anti-virals to take for this? It is a viral infection, right? Hope you feel better soon!

Glad you are properly diagnosed now , but so sorry you have mono! So frustrating when you have so much you want and need to do. Praying you recover quickly Lorii. Baby will need LOTS of your energy ;)
Dearest Loi,
Best wishes for your health. take more rest!
take a good care,
love ya
I am so sorry Lori. I had mono when I was defending my master's thesis in grad school. I was SO sick and so tired for about 2 weeks. But then I was just really wiped out and tied for about the next year. I mean I could function but I was not right. It took me a long time to get my normal energy level back. I hope you recover quickly. Lots of rest and healthy foods. Hugs,
Kim
OMG!!! Rest and take extra good care, Lori!!! My daughter had same thing ...dragged on and on, feeling tired and unwell - we chaulked it up to be on crew team - she even rowed at the Head of the Charles. Turned out half the team had mono!

Oh Lori .. I am so sorry! I know very well about mono. I had it 2 times many years ago and then when my boys were younger was diagnosed with chronic fatigue .. ugh, hardest time in my life. I could barely function. I still tire very easily and and in bed at 9pm almost every single night!
Please take care .. hugs and prayers for a quick recovery!! xx
Talk about bad timing! You have SO much going on in your life, you have NO time for this ~ ugh! Wishing you a speedy recovery ~ wish I lived closer, I would be right over to help you out.
Rest and relax,
Jo
