The Pumpkin

Oh! ~ fruit loved of boyhood! ~ the old days recalling,
when wood-grapes were purpling and brown nuts were falling!
When wild, ugly faces we carved in its skin,
glaring out through the dark with a candle within!
~ John Greenleaf Whittier,  The Pumpkin  (1850)

They look GREAT! We cannot carve ours until Halloween eve or day because the weather is too warm still. They would just rot. Kate is dying to roast the seeds:)

Oh, your boys look like they are having so much fun. We have a pumpkin carving contest every year, and even though the kids are grown, they still have a great time doing this. I will post the pumpkins on Halloween. Your pumpkins look so nice on your porch.
